Garmin have just released a ‘Smart Scale’ that knows more about you than ever before. In a bid to get to know ourselves even better, the Index Smart Scale measures weight, body mass index, body fat percentage, water percentage, muscle mass and bone mass. This is quantified health on another level!
Ask the Expert: I’m Cycling Loads but Gaining Weight
For the cyclist obsessed with marginal gains and slimming down for race season, we can imagine this will provide them with a field day of analytical joy. They will be able to know how much weight they can realistically lose and what they must accept as their genetic lot to a spooky degree of precision.
This detailed break down of your weight composition provides a whole new catalogue of data to analyse along with everything else we track these days.
“We designed this smart scale to be both beautiful and functional, and with it we’re able to complete the wellness circle of weight management.”
About the Index Smart Scale, Andrew Silver, Garmin’s EMEA Product Manager has said: “We designed this smart scale to be both beautiful and functional, and with it we’re able to complete the wellness circle of weight management. We’re also excited to offer this as an option to our millions of running, cycling and multisport athletes who are looking for a smart solution to track body composition data along with the rest of their data in Garmin Connect.”
The scale can accommodate up to 16 users, can recognise each person automatically and will sync the data with their respective Garmin profiles. All this data, along with sleep, fitness, nutrition and other trackable aspects of our health will start to provide a comprehensive overview of our entire health and wellness status.
The scales include all the mod cons of today’s technology such as wifi uploads, a sleek design and an app to go with it.
Why Hormones and Hot Weather Make you Gain Weight
