A Closer Look at Aldi’s Upcoming Cycling Collection

We got our mitts on some lovely cycling goodies from the latest Aldi collection

Last week we got excited at the news that Aldi’s cycling collection is coming back bigger than ever. Hitting your local supermarket on Sunday Mat 21st, their range is causing quite a stir, and for good reason. We got our hands on some of the items that’ll be in stores and had a closer look and what you can expect.

First up is the new women’s bib-shorts which are constructed from a lightweight polyester and elastane blend. The mesh straps and body keeps airflow circulating, whilst remaining soft to the skin and against the shoulders.

The legs offer a light compression and the material is thinner than what you would expect from regular cycling brand, and yet there are a number of features which really makes these bib-shorts worth a second look.

Reflective detailing on the back of the legs offer improved visibility in low light conditions, and silicone leg cuffs offer soft grip against the skin which keeps them from riding up. The Italian made chamois pad is super soft, anti-bacterial with comfortable gel inserts. Aldi advises these shorts are ideal for up to 4 hours in the saddle.

These bib-shorts will be available from Sunday, May, 21st in sizes small, medium and large for £14.99. These bib-shorts are perfect for more grassroots riders where the cycling addiction hasn’t yet cleared out your bank account. They’re also great as an emergency/backup pair of bib-shorts should your usual ones be dirty, worn or god forbid – lost!

There are three backpacks to choose from in the new Aldi range, varying in sizes and colours. This blue Crane bag is one of the larger sizes measuring at 34cm x 19cm x 50cm with a volume of 9.5 litres.

This bag can be used for a variety of activities, cycling included. While a bladder isn’t included, the backpack is suitable for most hydration systems as there is an exit hole at the top for the hose to feed through.

In a zipped compartment at the base of the bag is a folded waterproof cover which fits over the bag if you get caught out in bad weather.

The straps are really comfortable, softly padded and adjustable on the shoulders and the waist. The chest buckle clasps the shoulder straps together in the middle to offer additional stability and secures the position of the bag.

From just £3 you’ll be able to grab yourself a pair of summer fingerless gloves in a variety of different colours and sizes. Soft breathable fabric makes up the outer part of the glove while a brushed fabric coats the palm. Padding across the base of the fingers and the palm helps reduce discomfort after time on the bars.

More casual active wear will be coming to the collection also. This will include sports vests with built in bra support, casual style shorts for leisurely rides and off-road cycling, and plenty of accessories to finish off your kit.

So locate your nearest Aldi and head down for opening on Sunday, May 21st to get first pickings of the cycling range because when it’s gone… it’s gone!
