8 Reasons You Should Attend Canyon’s WMN Sessions

The Canyon women's-only experience day is coming to Kent

If there’s one thing that really excites us about riding bikes, it’s events that bring together the women’s community to enjoy a fun-filled day of cycling and socialising. Fortunately for us, Canyon bikes are hosting just that and what makes it more exciting is what they have in store for us.

Located in the magical forest surroundings of the clubhouse Kingdom in Penshurst, Kent, Canyon are hosting WMN Sessions; a women’s only experience day on Sunday, July 1st and here are just a few reasons why we think you should check it out…

Ride Bikes

Well, it goes without saying that riding bikes will most certainly be on the day’s agenda.

Canyon staff will be on hand with a team of mechanics to showcase their extensive range of women’s bikes. If you fancy taking one out for a test ride, all you need to bring is a form of ID, a credit card for insurance, pedals, and shoes… and away you go!

So if you’re in the market for a new steed and want to try before you buy, Canyon will have the following models available on the day: Spectral WMN, Spectral: ON WMN, Ultimate WMN, Endurace WMN, Roadlite WMN models in various sizes and specs.

There’ll be test loops nearby to ride offering both quiet country lanes around Penshurst, and an easy-going trail around the Kingdom clubhouse for off-road riding.

Yoga Sessions

Whether it’s to rest or recover, yoga and self-massage sessions will be running throughout the day led by Kingdom Yoga in their purpose built clubhouse.

These sessions will each run for approximately 45 mins and cover the following key areas for cyclists:

  • Hamstrings and hips
  • Spine and shoulders
  • Cultivating endurance workshop: how to master endurance by working with the female monthly and life cycles. Connecting to the times when we can cultivate a strength & endurance.
  • Practical massage: techniques to learn on the road and at home to soothe tight muscles and how to begin a self-massage practice. Focusing on the shoulders, head and feet.

Hot Tub

Yes, believe it. There will be a wood-fired hot tub available to soak and soothe your aching muscles in. Unwind from your test bike ride, relax from your yoga session and slip into a warm bath, just don’t forget to bring your swimwear!

Keeping it Real

Attending the Canyon WMN Session is Sports Psychologist, Evie Serventi who’ll be running a workshop called Keeping it Real.

With a career history in sports journalism and being a competitive triathlete herself, Evie made the transition into sports psychology accompanied by her passion and appreciation for physical exercise.

Her workshop will provide tips on how to stay motivated to train, how to keep a healthy perspective on riding your bike as you become more experienced, and how to set effective goals to ride towards.

Delicious Food

Refuel your body with some tasty treats from the Kingdom’s Basil Wholefoods café who’ll be serving nutritious meals throughout the day, just what you’ll need to keep you going through all the day’s activities.

Great Venue

When we say magical, it’s because this place has a child-like wonder quality for us.

What essentially resembles a huge adult-friendly tree house is the Kingdom’s clubhouse. Settled just 35 miles south of London and 7 miles from Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells, this location has beautiful country roads winding their way around the site, off-road trails and plenty of cross-country to explore on two wheels.

The Clubhouse is home to a scrumptious café, dedicated open yoga space and plenty of hang-out room where you can sit and take in the stunning landscapes that unfold around you.

Meet Fellow Female Riders

Perhaps one of the best things about events like these, other than riding bikes, is the opportunity it offers for you to meet new like-minded cyclists to chat with, share experiences and who knows, even make a new regular cycling buddy!

You can find out who’s going beforehand by signing up for the event via the Canyon Facebook page here.

It’s Free!

Oh, yeah, didn’t we mention it… the Canyon WMN Session is totally FREE!

Test bikes, partake in some yoga, sports psychology and hot tubbing without spending a penny. The only money you’ll need to bring is for food and drinks, but Canyon cover the rest. So, if you’re free that day, you really have no reason to not attend!
