There are a number of well-regarded qualifications that can help you become a mountain bike guide or coach. These awards enable you to help nurture the sport by working with others to help them find their potential and fall in love even more with MTB – if that’s even possible!

Cycling UK, Mountain Bike Coaching UK and the Mountain-Bike Instructors Award Scheme have come together to announce the launch of a new accrediting body, Association of British Mountainbike Guides.

The ABMG has already joined the European Organisation of Mountain Bike Instructor-Guides which adds more value to the overall qualification. The aim is to help boost participation and confidence in the mountain bike community so when you book your wild mountain bike getaway in Europe, you can have peace of mind that the guides have been trained to an excellent standard.

Matt Woodcock, Cycling UK training manager, said: “This exciting new venture will give a real boost to mountain bike leaders who are keen to train and qualify through this new pathway. Becoming a licensed European Mountain Bike Guide and proud member of ABMG will soon become a badge of honour in the industry.”

The new ABMG website is currently being built with the new accrediting body launching this summer. So if you’re hoping to gain some skills in coaching and guiding, keep your eyes peeled.
