Base layers are designed to wick sweat away from your skin to prevent you getting a chill and therefore maintain your core body temperature. They can be worn in the warmer summer months – to wick away moisture, as well as through the winter – to keep you warm. The Corefit Plus range from dhb has not only been designed to keep you warm, but to make sure you stay comfortable throughout your training session or ride.

This dhb Women’s Corefit Plus Long Sleeve Base Layer has natural wicking properties to keep any sweat away from the body; the high stretch, double knit fabric then traps a layer of insulating air against the body. There is also a Polygiene treatment to prevent the build-up of odorous bacteria – Polygiene treatment uses silver salt which naturally inhibits the growth of odour-causing bacteria to stop growth altogether rather than just absorbing the odours!

It’s designed to be worn close to the body – the seams follow the contours of the body to prevent friction and flatlock stitching on the seams means that there should be minimal chaffing. An extended collar also gives you the extra coverage you need in the colder weather conditions.

I’ve worn the dhb Women’s Corefit Plus Long Sleeve Base Layer on a number of rides now, in all sorts of weathers. The fit is great, with the fabric skimming my body. It’s also long enough to tuck in to shorts and didn’t ride up at all. The arms are nice and long, which might not be ideal for everyone but as I’m quite tall I find that quite often base layers and jerseys don’t have long enough arms! The flatlock seams did their job too, helped by the soft fabric, making the base layer incredibly comfy.

I did think that wearing a base layer I might overheat on the climbs but it did wick away the sweat and then kept me warm on the descents. It’s a light to mid-weight base layer so great for spring and autumn riding or cooler summer days.
