Recipe: Fiery Salsa and Tortilla Chips

Recipe: Spinach, Broccoli and Pea Puff Bites

Protein Powder Recipe: Apple, Flax, and Cinnamon Donuts

Santigold- Disparate Youth

You’ll probably recognise this song from a Direct Line advertisement, that’s how we discovered it! Santigold’s, 1980’s pop music influence instantly screams summer.

Grimes- Oblivion

Electro pop queen Grimes’s hit track ‘Oblivion’ was claimed by Pitchfork to be the number 1 song of 2012. Now that might be a bit far fetched but it’s a good song to boogie along too.

The Wise Guys- Oh La La

The 1998 hit has the ability to turn any sombre day into a party. Being re-released in 1999, the song reached number 2 in the UK singles charts after being featured on a Budwiser advertisement.

Florence & The Machine- Dog Days Are Over

After cycling across Waterloo Bridge in London everyday, seeing the same giant text instalment ‘Dog Days Are Over’ on her journey, Florence Welsh used it for inspiration for one of the hottest tracks of 2008.

Foster the People- Pumped Up Kicks

Wrote and recorded in just a mere five hours, the breakthrough hit ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ scored great success after eight weeks at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 U.S chart. It’s definitely a song for a good old journey!

Hall & Oats- You Make My Dreams Come True

The single by Hall & Oats didn’t just reach number five in the Billboard Hot 100 in 1981 for nothing. Complete with an upbeat 80’s pop tempo, this is the sort of song that makes getting out of bed just that little bit easier.

Bonobo- We Could Forever

Electronic Jazz producer Bonobo’s album ‘Black Sands’ is full of summer anthems, with this track being perfect to keep up the tempo in the evening when things have started to settle down.

Caribou- Odessa

Making a hit appearance on Fifa 11, ‘Odessa’ is a track that instantly brings the party vibes up a notch. It was released from the album ‘Swim’ which was named best album of 2010 by Pitchfork.

Hot 8 Brass Band- Sexual Heeling

No can cover Marvin Gaye and pull it off in complete style like New Orleans based ensemble, Hot 8 Brass Band. Bring a bit of jazz/funk to your summer with a song that instantly get’s everyone on their feet dancing together! You have to wait for 2 minutes until the song really brings it’s magic.

Toots & The Maytals- 54-46

Now this wouldn’t be a summer playlist without some good old ska reggae! Named as one of the most classic reggae songs of all time, the track instantly brings cheerfulness and sunshine to any dull (British) day.

The Red Hot Chilli Peppers- Zephyr Song

Now the great thing about RHCP is that it’s very rare that you find someone who doesn’t like the band. We can’t actually quite believe this was released 12 years ago? It will always remain an ultimate summer song to us!

Fleetwood Mac- Dreams

We sure do have something for everyone in this playlist! ‘Dreams’, the ultimate ballad from Fleetwood Mac, is their most famous hit which sold over more than a million records at the time in the US. With so many covers of the song, nothing beats the original.

Route 94- My Love

Now this is a track for when things get a little bit more lively in the evening. ‘My Love’, which is still currently in the charts, crops up almost everywhere at the moment and is a great tune to get everyone in the mood to party.
