Ever been tempted to have a go on a Barclays Bike but not quite got round to it? Here’s your chance. To celebrate the 4th birthday of the bike rental scheme, on the 16th and 17th August you can use a Barclays Cycle Hire bike for free!

Barclays, who sponsor the ubiquitous blue bikes, will cover the £2 access fee for up to 4 bicycles per card, so so long as each journey is under 30 minutes, you can ride round for free. You will still need to pop a credit or debit card in the machine to access the bikes though.

Not sure where to ride? Why not join one of the two special group rides that have been organised for the occasion.

On Saturday 16th August, head to Marble Arch for the Hyde Park Fantasy Loop. A gentle 4 miles of cycling will take you past some of the main attractions in the park, and you’ll have time to cool your toes in the fountains too.

Head out on Sunday and you can join the women’s only Breeze ride in Regents Park. Spin past the enclosures of London Zoo and along the scenic canal on your Barclays Bike – it’s a fun, relaxed atmosphere and perfect for anyone who hasn’t ridden in a while and wants to get back on a bike.

Both these rides are exclusively for Barclays Bike riders, and you need to make sure you leave enough time to get a bike before the ride starts – the organisers suggest 30 minutes.
