Galloway Cycling Holidays - The Two Abbeys Tour
Galloway Cycling Holidays - The Two Abbeys Tour
Galloway Holidays have a wide range of Scottish breaks, with distances starting at 10 miles a day – but we liked the look of this one, which covers 45-50 miles each day.
10 of the Best Coastal Bike Rides in the UK
This tour, appropriate for hybrid or road bikes, puts the focus on history, so your ride will be punctuated with a selection of attractions, including the two abbeys.
You’ll see Port Mary, where Mary Queen of Scots first set foot in Scotland, Dundrennan Abbey, and Sweetheart Abbey, which was founded in 1273. There’s a story there about a fine lady who wore a heart in a casket round her neck (as you do).
You’ll also see working corn mills and will have a route book with you to make sure you don’t miss a thing.
The trip costs £125 and luggage transfer, B&B accommodation and a support van are all provided. Find out more.
