Launching the Total Women’s Cycling recipe collection…we need your help!

Cinnamon apple cake, homemade protein shakes, bircher muesli, sweet potato and bacon soup…

Reading through the tasty recipes you’ve all been posting in the forum has 1) made us hungry and 2) given us an idea; we’d like to feature them on the website itself! An online bank of tried and tested recipes created by cyclists, at your fingertips – what better way to find a pre-ride brunch, mid-ride snack, or post-ride dinner?

We’d love you to get involved, so here’s how you could have your recipe published on Total Women’s Cycling.

What do I do?

If you’d like to share your culinary delights and get your recipe featured on the site, then follow these simple steps.

  1. Make sure you’re signed up to the forum; if not, you can register here.
  2. Write it out as a forum post using the format below
  3. Post it in the ‘recipes and meals’ strand in The Lounge section of the forum
  4. We’ll regularly pick a selection to publish on the website, bringing you international fame – or at least the warm glow that comes from knowing women everywhere will be enjoying your cuisine


Original recipes please! We’re looking for your take on soups and stews, your (not so) secret flapjack recipe, and your favourite homemade post-ride cake.

We’ll be attributing your recipe to your forum name, so don’t forget to make sure your forum profile is up to day

We’ll put the format guide up in the forum too, so you have it to hand.

Recipe Format

Recipe title, and how many servings it makes
Recipe Picture
A high-resolution image of the completed recipe, showing just how tasty it is! The image needs to be at least 640 pixels wide by 340 pixels high if you can manage it. 
Recipe description
A quick paragraph that covers what this item is, why you like making it, and why it’s good for cycling
Ingredients list
Quantity or weight, item, and preparation eg grated, finely chopped, sieved
A step-by-step guide to making the recipe, including times and oven temperatures
Hints and tips
Any additional bits of information

Example Recipe Post

To give you an example, here’s a tasty recipe from [email protected] for Bircher Muesli.

Recipe Title: Bircher Muesli (serves 2)
My favourite breakfast at the moment is Bircher Muesli; it keeps you so full, it’s packed with good stuff and sets you up for a ride like nothing else

100g rolled oats or porridge
100ml semi skimmed milk
100ml orange juice (trust me it works!)
3 heaped tbs of low fat yoghurt
2 grated apples
1 tbs honey or agave syrup
2 handfulls of whatever you like! I use chopped pistachios, dried blueberries and dried cranberries
1 chopped banana to top

Add all the ingredients to a bowl and stir. Cover and refrigerate. Add the banana just before serving.

Hints and Tips:
This is best made-up the night before for it to soften.
It will keep nicely for a couple of days in the fridge so make a big batch up and have instant breakfast in the mornings!
The orange juice preserves the apple and stops it going brown.
