Perhaps best known for their handbags, French based luxury brand Hermès have launched a bicycle that will set you back a cool £7,500.
Back in November, we stumbled across an article – Hermès unveiling two über-lightweight carbon fibre bicycles. Surely it couldn’t be true?
How wrong we were.
Little did we know at that point, Hermès were already in the bicycle market, stocking a £2,908 model for some time over on their US site. At £2,908 it’s a real bargain compared to the newly unveiled Le Flanneur at £7,500!
After further investigation, we also found out that Hermès seem to have a penchant for attaching unfathomable price tags to every day items. We nearly spat out our tea when we spotted a £7,800 basketball on their site.
More money than sense we think!
So what does a £7,500 luxury lifestyle bike look like?
Weighing 11 kgs, the eight-speed bikes are handmade in France by racing specialists Time and come in three colourways and sizes.
The bikes, feature Hermès infamous bull-calf leather at the contact points: the saddles, handlebar grips, carry handles and luggage rack supports. Additional features include a shock-absorbing frame, belt-driven transmission and hydraulic disc brakes.
Sit back and watch the designer’s try to justify the astronomical price tag!
