This one won’t apply to everyone, but if you have disc brakes, it is a useful addition to your bike cleaning armory.
The Pros and Cons of Disc Brakes for Road Bikes
Disc brakes rotas can pick up grime – dust, oil and dirt – and this needs to be removed to keep your brakes in (quiet!) good working order. In addition, the brake pads last longer if they receive a little TLC, and a specific disc brake cleaning product will also ensure they are re-hydrated.
The Muc-Off disc brake cleaner removes all the nasties your brakes pick up, and prolongs the life of your pads. At £5.99 for 400ml, this should last you ages, and it’s safe for use on rubber, plastic, anodized metals, carbon fibre and painted surfaces.
Once your bike is shiny and clean, make sure you lube the chain as well, to keep shifting smooth and quick, and prevent rust from creeping in.
