Katy Curd is a cyclist of many talents. She dominated the 4X Pro-Tour in 2013, is making a return to the world of Downhill MTB this year, and has just been crowned the 2014 4X World Champion.
When she’s not racing, she’s providing coaching, and supporting projects like the Flyup 417 Project, a new and rather amazing crowdfunded bike park. So it’s safe to say she’s rather busy!
We caught up with her to ask her a rapid fire 60 seconds of questions…
What’s your earliest memory of being on a bike?
My dad taking my stabilisers off! It went pretty well. He pushed me off down a hill where we lived, and I just flew off.
What’s your favourite colour?
Red.
Favourite film?
Million Dollar Baby.
If you weren’t a pro-mountain biker, what would you be?
Ha ha – screwed! I honestly don’t know. I’d like to be involved with bikes somehow. Maybe a team manager of a mountain bike team or something like that.
Do you have any hidden talents?
No!
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Bikes! It’s going to sound really sad but my whole life revolves around bikes. Any spare time I’m just out riding for fun or cleaning the bikes.
Any strange or unusual pre-race rituals?
Nope, I’m just straight down the line, get out there and get on with it.
