Sportful is an Italian cycling kit manufacturer producing some very Italian kit – stylish, high quality and slim fitting. The Bodyfit Pro range uses the same material as used by the pro team Saxo-Tinkoff and is designed to ‘enhance aerodynamics without compromising comfort’ – I have translated this as ‘well-fitting without cutting you in two’.
The first thing I noticed about this kit is how extremely lightweight and beautifully made it is. It exudes quality. In fact – on account of not being 5 foot 10, slim and Italian – I felt a bit of a fraud trying it on. But once on, I didn’t really care as it’s probably the single-most comfortable kit I’ve ever worn.
As it’s so lightweight it is pretty cool so feels a bit out of place on anything but a bright-sunny day – perhaps it should be thought of like buying a holiday bikini rather than a pair of wellies for the UK summer. The lightweight fabric stays lovely and cool on hotter days rather than feeling heavy and hot like many other jerseys and shorts I have.
One of the features I love about this kit is the way the sleeves and shorts are unfinished rather than having an elasticated gripper or cuff. It’s really comfortable and they stay perfectly in position. All sleeves should be made this way.
The jersey is a full zip and has a good gripper which keeps the bottom in place. It also has usefully sized pockets in which you can get your basic spares, phone and keys. The chamois in the shorts is really lightweight and comfortable; it’s definitely the best my bum has ever worn.
Perhaps unsurprisingly this isn’t the cheapest kit that you’ll ever buy (the shorts and jersey are £75 a-piece), but it’s not the most expensive either. If this is a price you’re willing to pay, then it’s a really beautiful and well-performing thing to buy.
Fit-wise, I’m a UK 10 and the small jersey and shorts fitted me well which goes against the typically under-sizing of Italian kit. It is slim fit though so leaves little to the imagination, particularly in the case of the white top.
