Review: dhb Fluro Bib Short

The dhb Fluro Bib Shorts Get a Great Big Thumbs Up

One should not expect to blend in with the crowd while wearing the Fluro Bib Shorts from dhb.

Thankfully though, I am partial to a spot of neon, it’s fun and makes a nice change from two tone primary coloured offerings. More importantly though – these bib shorts delivered when it came to performance. Priced at £53.99 they give a lot of bang for your buck.

From the moment I popped these shorts on, I liked them. I wore the size UK 1o which fit like a glove. The leg length is reasonably short, but at 176cm I am pretty tall so have come to accept this as a feature of most items of clothing that I wear.

The carbon fibre braces are so light and comfortable, I didn’t even notice they were there and the mesh panelling on the back provided ample ventilation.

The short itself is made from an Italian Miti fabric which offers light compression. I can’t say that I really noticed this particular feature but they do offer a good amount of support while allowing full freedom of movement so they certainly did not feel restrictive in any way.

The most impressive feature of these shorts is the chamois. dhb have used a CyTech Interface Giro Air Seatpad. Be warned if you are a fan of a thicker chamois – this might not be the perfect match for you. But I thought it performed exceptionally well and is perfect for long-distance cycling. I felt comfortable, fresh and dry throughout.

Flatlock stitching has been used to ensure chaffing is kept at bay while the short is kept in place with fragmented silicone grippers which again performed brilliantly.

VERDICT:

This bib short steps up the mark and performs really well, especially when you consider its very competitive price point.

PROS:

Incredible chamois that is very comfortable and more importantly breathable. Elsewhere the short fits well and offers a good combination of support and freedom of movement.

CONS:

The neon colour-way might not be to everyone’s taste. The leg length is also a little on the short side for lanky ladies like me!

PRICE: £53.99
