Tetrick Uploads ‘awkward moment where you are solo & almost win but get caught 50m to go.’ Ride

Haven't we all gone a bit mad naming our Strava ride at one point or another?

The Aviva Women’s Tour Day One was always earmarked as a sprint stage – but Alison Tetrick of Clyance Pro Cycling tried to mess with the plan today and almost succeeded.

Tetrick broke away with 25km to go, and managed to create a time gap of almost two minutes in the closing stretch. However, she was caught with the line in sight.

Tetrick looked a little watery eyed at the press conference, telling us: “You never believe you can win until you cross the line… but man, ten metres to go, at that moment, I believed I could win.”

She cheered up quickly though, clearly pleased with the strength of her breakaway – saying: “I sure would have liked to win, but I’ve got four more stages to go.”

The day was clearly a frustrating one for Tetrick, who uploaded her ride to Strava with a name that said it all. Literally.

Tetrick already has 148 kudos from her ride – and no doubt more to come! She also collected 77 top results including a host of shiny Queenies!
