First Impressions of the New TIME Scylon Road Bike

In the pursuit of perfection, French design and engineering develops the new TIME Scylon race bike

French bicycle manufacturer, TIME, is renowned for producing high-quality race bikes finished with excellence for the passionate and performance driven cyclist. The new TIME Scylon is a testament to that as we took one for a spin.

Earlier this year we headed to one of Peterborough’s finest cycling shops, Gorilla Firm Cycling, to witness the unveiling of the new TIME Scylon road bike and to take it out for a test spin.

TIME was founded in the late 1980’s France by Roland Cattin who, with a team of experts, developed their first road clipless pedal. Since then, TIME has ventured into the production of road bicycles that have gone on to champion professional riders over the past 30-years.

TIME prides themselves on producing carbon race bike superior in quality through the way in which carbon fibre is used in production. TIME carefully selects and braids the carbon fiber used for the Scylon’s frame production in accordance with the characteristics of the bike’s purpose.

The TIME Scylon also features the latest Aktiv system to help reduce vibration through the front of the bike as a damper component sits within each sleeve of the fork making for a more comfortable ride.

  • Wheels: Mavic ksyrium
  • Handlebar: Deda RHM02
  • Stem: Deda 02
  • Saddle: Selle Italia Flite TI
  • Pedals: Xpresso 10
  • Price: £4,999

The upper build models come equipped with Shimano Di2 groupset some of the lightest and stiffest components on the market.

The TIME Scylon is a unisex frame available in a number of colours and sizes ranging from xx.small to x.large. For more information about the TIME Scylon, head over to their website here.

TIME bikes are available at a number of independent bike shops across the UK including our host for the demo day, Gorilla Firm Cycling in Oundle. For full dealer listings head over to the UK distributors site here.

We got to test out the new TIME Scylon bike at their launch as the rain held off but the strong winds prevailed, we pedalled into the countryside.

As expected, the Scylon is ultra light in weight which is noticeable when riding as it sometimes felt you weren’t ride anything at all, especially when caught by a rogue cross wind. The geometry of the bike manipulates your body into a race position and the stiffness of the frame offers comfortable feedback from the road. The Shimano Di2 groupset is responsive, smooth and easy to get on with once you figure out the lever button system.

If you’re not looking for a complete build then you can purchase a frame only option for £2,999 with Classic fork, or £3,399 with Aktiv fork.

If you’re looking for a lightweight, ultra finished racing road bike, then take a look at the TIME Scylon.
