Last week we made our way to Milton Keynes where Trek Bikes unveiled their sterling new line up of bikes, kit and apparel for 2017.
Road bikes are forever getting lighter and more aerodynamic, built to be one with the cyclist and perform their best as a power duo. However, the holy trinity of road bikes: performance, comfort and power aren’t easily achieved with one element always falling to the way side.
Trek bikes have been playing around a little with their women’s Silque model, the only bike in their entire fleet to have a women’s specific frame, and everything else. This endurance bike has had some fancy new upgrades to try and harmonise these key elements in order to product a bike that rides smoother, longer and faster. So what’s new?
Other than the obvious new colour-ways, there have been some modifications to the frame itself. Trek’s introduce a new IsoSpeed decoupler which doubles vertical compliance to help reduce the buzz in the road.
Bike Review: Trek Silque SL 2015
The front and rear decoupler on the SLR 7 is finely tuned, and adjustable – on the rear – which helps take out some of the unevenness in roads. Essentially it’s a soft suspension feature which doesn’t suck out the energy from your pedal strokes.
The Silque is available is sizes: 47 / 50 / 52 / 54 / 56 with the top end model being the SLR 7 (above) which has a full carbon frame and fork. A split seat-post for the IsoSpeed, Shimano Ultegra Di2, 2×11 drive-train and Bontrager components.
