Reviewed: Liv Rev MIPS Women’s Road Helmet

It's easy to see why the women of Liv-Plantur love this helmet

Just when you think helmets couldn’t get safer or more stylish, brands like Liv go and develop something to blow us away. Here we have the new Liv Rev MIPS Women’s road helmet and we’ve been putting it through the miles.

Four years ago, Liv stepped out from the safety of its industry juggernaut brother, Giant, and set out to find its own place within cycling. With a largely female team, Liv caters for women who love to ride their bikes, whatever the discipline.

With safety, comfort and style being at the forefront of their mind, Liv has developed a number of women’s specific helmets and the new Rev MIPS is just one of them.

So let’s get stuck in with the tech of this helmet…

Constructed from five polycarbonate micro shells, there are 21 vents throughout the structure which have been strategically placed to maximise airflow. LiteForm™ webbing has been used to enhance comfort and performance, and the Giant CINCH+™ fit system ensures a dialed in fit.

Inside the helmet, MIPS technology provides an inner casing in its iconic bright yellow colour under which is lined with a highly evaporative and bacteria-inhibiting helmet padding with a 5mm thickness for comfort.

With all this tech in such a compact and stylish design, it’s easy to see why the women of Liv-Plantur love this lid.

There’s no denying it, the Liv Rev MIPS Women’s road helmet is extremely comfortable, well-fitting and lightweight.

While I got the fit secure and comfortable, I found the shape of the helmet to sit high on my head which seemed further enhanced by its rounded shape.

The Giant CINCH+™ fit system is great because the retention wheel adjusts so incrementally that you can get the fit spot-on. Not only this, but it’s easy to grip and turn with gloves on, and the movement is stiff enough to keep your fit locked providing reassurance that it won’t loosen during the ride.

Another comforting feature is the soft flexible straps which clip easily under the chin. Some new helmets have stiff straps that jut out at awkward angles until sufficient miles have been pedalled for these to soften and break in, however, this isn’t the case with the Liv Rev.
