Velobici’s Thermal Arm Warmers are warm and comfortable, though you might need to roll them up a bit.
Midlands based cycling apparel brand, Velobici make smart, functional, non-geeky bikewear for both roadies and city cyclists. With a a range that’s all designed and manufactured in the UK, from sweaters to cardies right the way to bib shorts and thermal overshoes, Velobici reckon they’ve got you covered in style.
At least they have if you possess one Y chromosome. Us ladies are slightly less well catered for with a smaller collection of basics and accessories to select from.
That said, a lot of the men’s gear can double up for women if ordered in the correct size. I wouldn’t be overly keen on the men’s bib shorts, but I was more than happy to try out the Velobici Thermal Arm Warmers.
I tested a men’s size small, which was fine in terms of circumference but maybe slightly over generous in length. I had to hoik the arm warmers pretty high up my shoulders in order to get them to finish at the appropriate place by my wrist.
That aside, the sleek, black arm warmers were pleasingly soft to the touch and kept me toasty. The thermal, water-repellent, fleece-backed fabric stood up to the elements with ease. Rain ran off extremely well when a downpour hit. The soft grippers inside held the arm warmers in place. That’s important as having to constantly yank your arm warmers up on a ride can be really irritating.
The fleecy interior felt good against the skin, and plenty of stretch made for a comfortable fit. My pair held up well after multiple washes: the inside remained soft and the arm warmers still looked as smart as the first time I wore them.
Reflective piping around the wrist and an embroidered VB logo complete the look of this simple piece of kit.
According to the blurb, Velobici was “born out of a passion for style and comfort, both on and off your bike” which seems like a pretty good place to start. Chuck in some high quality fabrics and things are looking even better.
In the end, there are only a few important things when it comes to arm warmers: you want them to feel good, stay in place, keep you warm and look stylish. The VB thermal winter editions manage to do all four. Personally, I think the logo is a little on the large size, but I guess we can’t all agree on everything.
