When it comes to cycling jerseys, I always find myself reaching for the same one in my wardrobe, because I know it works. When I got my hands on the Tribe Sports performance jersey, I was happy to see if it would become a favourite.

In a cool charcoal grey with yellow side panels, I thought it looked really appealing. It’s always good to see women’s jerseys that are not pink and flowery. The design and colouring are simple and the fit is a tight one. It is a performance jersey, so made to be snug. You may want to upsize if (like me) you are curvier, or prefer a looser fit.

The jersey has a half zip down the front, which suits me. It works well when you are getting hot and just want to cool down. It has the usual silicon gripper around the base to stop it sliding up during a ride and I found this worked really well.

The fabric of the jersey boasts a “4-way stretch”. I’m not sure how many directions I stretched it in, but it held up really well. With flat lock seams it didn’t chafe either, making it really comfortable. The side panels are fully ventilated, meaning it’s not just restricted to the armpit, it goes right down the side. This feature was really good on a long ride. I didn’t end up feeling to sweaty because of the breathable fabric.

At the rear, it has the standard drop tail design that you would expect from a cycling jersey. It has two deep rear pockets, perfect for strong an extra water bottle and raincoat. It also has a little zip pocket on the back which was good for keeping cake and coffee money safe.

 

Verdict

As a jersey, it does what it says and preforms. It feels good and looks good. It’s well made and stands up well in terms of all it offers.
