If too much elastic leaves you cold, the Craft Active Jersey is well worth a look.
In contrast to the Craft Performance Bib Shorts, we were very pleasantly surprised with Craft’s Active Jersey – the fabric isn’t shiny and the fit is relaxed.
That relaxed fit is achieved by not using elastic in the cuffs and waistband – instead, they just sit closely to the skin which I find much more comfortable and doesn’t lead to any unsightly pinching.
One caveat on the relaxed fit though – I’m typically a size 10 and was wearing a medium, so if you also don’t like things skin tight, bear this in mind.
The flipside of it having no elastic in the waistband is that the three rear pockets can’t be unevenly stuffed to bursting else they’ll wobble around. Try to balance your kit across all three to prevent this, as the pockets are plenty big enough to hold all you’ll need for a day’s riding. Plus, there’s a small zipped pouch in the middle (a little tricky to reach), which has a hole to run earphones through.
The feel of the material is soft and thick yet breathable with some mesh just below the shoulders for venting. I haven’t had a chance to try this in hot weather yet, but it seems to be better for spring or autumn riding, rather than the hottest of summer days.
The zip isn’t full length – personally I find this makes for a more flattering cut, but is more of a faff if you’re wearing bibs.
Verdict
The Craft Active Jersey is a great option for this time of year and offers a flattering relaxed fit
