REVIEW: Adidas Supernova Shorts

The adidas Supernova shorts are not quite there

This short is by no means my favourite. But saying that I think adidas are on the verge of creating a great short. A couple of small tweaks and to me it would have been perfect.

The Supernova is a knee length short (a little above that on me as I am 5’9”) that offers comfort, durability and a chamois that performs well.

The shorts are made from a high performance lycra which is comfortable next to the skin and is pretty breathable when put under a bit of stress.

The shorts fit ok, but did not offer any feeling of support or compression. I wore a size small (UK 8-10, according to adidas) and to be honest I felt the fit could be better.  The back of the short, raises up nice and high which is good, as I am always wary of the muffin top scenario in shorts. The front however, was not so comfortable. Instead of rising quite high, it dips under the belly button which isn’t the best feeling when you are down in the riding position as it does lend itself to a little bit of overhang.

Elsewhere, the chamois is good. Not too chunky and fits snuggly on the bottom. It absorbed and wicked away moisture well and was pretty comfy overall.

Other features on the short include silicone grippers on the leg and reflective detailing in the form on the three stripes on the side of the shorts.

VERDICT:

While this short does have a couple of failings, it should be noted that fit is a really personal thing so while it didn’t fit my body shape perfectly, it might be better on you!

PROS:

A good chamois and made from a very comfortable fabric.

CONS:

The short offers no support and the fit is not fantastic (on me anyway!)

RRP: £65.76
