World Champion Elinor Barker Features in New Music Video

The latest track from Lucy Rose features the World Champion doing what she does best

It’s not every day you see a World Champion athlete venture into mainstream music so when we heard that Olympic gold medallist and World Champion, Elinor Barker, had been collaborating with singer/songwriter, Lucy Rose on a music video… we couldn’t help but get a little excited.

The song is entitled “Second Chance” and it’s from Lucy Rose’s third studio album “Something’s Changing”. The video depicts an elderly woman fondly reminiscing about her younger days as a cyclist, who’s played by Elinor Barker. Lucy explained why she chose a sports theme and why Elinor fit the bill; “I wanted to make a video which meant something and explained the story of the song. I felt like Elinor would be the perfect person to do this as from an outsiders point of you, it’s so obvious to see how brilliant she is”

“I sent her [Elinor Barker] a twitter direct message to see if she wasn’t interested in being in a music video and if she liked the song. Luckily for me she was up for it.” – Lucy Rose

So what does the World Champion has to say about featuring in her first music video? We find out…

What attracted you most to this project?

I was really shocked to be asked to be in the video in the first place! It was never something I had considered, but I’ve been a fan of Lucy for a long time so jumped at the chance. The song is beautiful and I really like the sentiment of it- about being less critical and more accepting and loving of yourself.

Was it fun to be in your first music video?

Yes, it was really fun! It was a bit of a weird day having cameras and drones follow me around. I found it really interesting to work with people who have never been involved in cycling and work mainly in music, which is a pretty rare opportunity for me.

You can watch the full music video for “Second Chance” below.

Lucy Rose will be headlining a tour throughout November and you can get your tickets here.
