Getting your child off to a flying start in cycling requires a suitable bicycle, a sprinkle of confidence and a sense of adventure. Well, now there’s a children’s bike brand that offers all of that and plenty more.
Welsh bicycle manufacturer, Black Mountain, has been busy developing a range of bicycles for adventurous mini-humans, whilst keeping the parents in mind. The new Skog and Pinto ranges incorporate innovative technology which allows the bike to evolve as your child grows.
Black Mountain Pinto (12″ to 14″)
The Pinto weighs 5.7kg and has been specifically designed for 3 to 5-year-olds. Using EPOK growing technology, this bike has three modes which evolve as your child grows; balance bike, small pedal and finally, large pedal.
Balance Mode: The PINTO starts life as a small lightweight balance bike, which is ideal for your child to learn on. This offers them the chance to gain confidence, getting used to the bike’s geometry, brakes and riding position before they transfer to the first pedal bike mode.
Small Pedal: When ready, simply install the included PowerPack; cranks, pedals and oil-free drive belt. This transforms the balance bike into a small pedal bike.
Large Pedal: The final mode uses the UP: SCALE frame and IN: GEAR system to transform the PINTO into a large pedal bike, which increases the frame size and gearing by about 20%, making the most of the easy rolling 14” wheel size.
Essentially, you’re getting three bikes in one, without having to wait for your child to “grow into” the bike and without having to upgrade so quickly after as they grow in the blink of an eye.
The PINTO is available in four bright colours; orange, neon green, purple and sky blue here for £329.
