Urbanist Launch ‘The Johnny’ for Male Cyclists

Know a man who rides, but is struggling with discomfort on short trips? These could be for him...

Urbanist launched via a Kickstarter campaign back in 2013, but up until recently they only offered products for women. That’s changed.

If you’ve got a male friend struggling with saddle discomfort on rides not long enough to warrant padded cycling shorts, then these might just be the first item on your gift list.

The brand – who are women’s online retailer VeloVixen’s biggest seller – made it into our TWC20 best brands for 2016, thanks to their careful attention to detail and array of styles.

In a nod to gender neutrality, the brand have opted to market the pants with images produced in the same style as those used to market their women’s product.

Admittedly men don’t have quite as many options to choose from, but the men’s pants ‘The Johnny’ are available in ‘blue stripe’ (left) and ‘red strut’ (right).

They’re also available as ‘Chamois Boxers’ ($66), with a custom made discreet pad, and ‘Active Boxers’ ($35) which just promise high wicking material and a tag free performance waist band.

VeloVixen are the primary UK stockist, but they deal in women’s kit only. However, these can be shipped to the UK for $15.
