The inaugural Women’s Tour in 2014, organised by SweetSpot, takes place over five stages between Wednesday 7th and Sunday 11th May. Over the past few weeks, details of the route the pros will ride have been released.

The Women’s Tour: Stage 4 Race Report – Cheshunt to Welwyn
The Women’s Tour, awarded the prestigious 2.1 status by the UCI – the sport’s governing body – will see the world’s top female riders descend on the UK to race.
Stages one through four have already been announced, and now the final stage of The Women’s Tour has been revealed this week.
For stage five of the new-for-2014 international level stage-race, it’s been announced that Harwich and Bury St Edmunds will host the riders. They will go from Harwich in Essex to the finish in Bury St Edmunds in the heart of Suffolk on Sunday 11th May.

Stage 1: Oundle to Northampton - Thursday 8th May
Stage 2: Hinckley to Bedford - Friday 9th May
Stage 3: Clacton-on-Sea - Saturday 10th May
Stage 4: Cheshunt to Welwyn Garden City - Sunday 11th May
Stage 5: Harwich to Bury St Edmunds
On Suffolk’s inclusion in the route, Guy Elliott of The Women’s Tour organisers SweetSpot Group commented:

“The final stage will provide a scenic backdrop to what we are sure will be an exciting and competitive race. We hope that with the involvement of major European teams and the proximity of stages to ports will attract a number of cycling fans across from the Continent.”
Exact details of the route The Women’s Tour will take will be announced in early 2014.
