Following on from the success of its women only events, Evans Cycles have just launched women-only FixIt! maintenance classes.
We are absolutely thrilled to see women’s cycling getting the recognition and exposure it deserves and the recent Women’s Tour really highlights how much it has progressed.
Michelle Arthurs, social media guru at Evans Cycles has said: “We can see that there are more and more women getting on their bikes, and we want to do everything we can to support them. Of course, some will be brand new to cycling, whilst others will have been riding for decades – so we carried out surveys to make sure we could provide for as many women as possible, in a way that best met a variety of needs.”
Although they already host one-hour long FixIt! maintenance classes at each of their 50 stores nationwide, they listened to what their female customers had to say and have decided that one in four of these existing classes will only be open to women.
The advice will remain exactly the same as what is offered at mixed sessions. Each session lasts for one hour, and includes:
Bike component guide
How to conduct a pre-ride bike safety check
How to change an inner tube following a puncture
Cleaning and re-lubing your drivechain to prevent wear & tear and encourage a smoother ride
Brake adjustment
Gear adjustment
Q&A with the trainer
There is a charge of £15 for a session, and every attendee will leave the session with a goody bag, containing a maintenance manual, instruction guide and over £15 worth of maintenance kit.
Reserving a place at one of the classes is simple – select your local Evans Cycles store and select “book online” under ‘servicing’. Alternatively, call your local store to book a session.
