The weather is quickly turning and those precious summer trail days are nothing more than a dusty memory. So now it’s time to make some new kickass wet weather ones!

At TWC, we like to consider ourselves as fashionistas. We love fashion and style and all things trendy… in cycling that is! Fortunately for us, women’s cycling fashion has been growing across disciplines, and we don’t just mean a cute jersey here or there, we mean full kits, accessories and protection, the whole shabang.

How to corner your MTB in wet mud

With the colder and wetter months setting in quickly, it’s time to take a look at our mountain bike wardrobe and get those warmer wears out. Cycling jackets are a staple item, they keep you protected against the elements without hindering your performance.

So we’ve round up a few of the best MTB jackets for women, that tick all the boxes for fit, function and fabulous…

Flare’s Cloudburst Jacket

The Cloudburst jacket from Flare Clothing isn’t particularly new to the MTB scene, but why fix what isn’t broken?

Unsung hero: Hannah Myers from Flare Clothing Co.

It’s waterproof, breathable, has plenty of pockets, detachable hood and reflective detailing. You may expect that a jacket that’s so packed with features must be a nuisance to ride it, but it’s not. It’s lightweight and moves easily with the body as you ride.

The Cloudburst jacket has been designed to fit the female form with lovely tapered sides and flush zips. The versatility is endless because although its primarily for riding in, it’s so subtle in construction that it’s perfect for for casual wear and other outdoor activities.

Their range of women’s mountain bike jackets have a great reputation for being durable, protective and well fitting. Coming in a variety of models, the Flo range is certainly the most hard-wearing of them.

With both waterproof and windproof technology, the Flo jacket has a large hood to reach over your helmet, flush zips and waterproof pockets. The sides of the jacket are adjustable with toggles, so you can get that dialled in fit.

ION’s Shell AMP Vario Jacket

Earlier this year we trail tested the latest women’s trail kit from ION Bikes, and we were very impressed. For a surf company, that’s come on land, they’ve been producing quality biking kit for both men and women.

Their new Shell Amp jacket for women caught our eye at Eurobike this year. It’s bold panel flat colours, soft stretchy material lured us in. Then we were hooked when we uncovered all its other secrets and charms.

It’s soft and stretchy to the touch, so it feels like a softshell jacket. However, it’s incredibly waterproof and windproof as well. The taped seams provide additional protection, and the reflective detail allows the jacket to pop in low light conditions. Discrete ventilation allows the air to flow, while the adjustable hood, cuffs and hem ensures you can get the fit dialled in to a T.

Sizes: X.Small – X.Large
