The Intrigue has proved a popular platform – but for 2016 it has been tuned to provide greater travel for women who want a truly aggressive ride.
Built from the ground up for female shredders, the Intrigue SX has a 140-160mm RockShox fork and a 140mm Maestro shock on the rear making it a machine for fast riding on technical trails.
Aside from the updated fork travel, riders also enjoy 27.5″ wheels (which seems to be a popular wheel size across all brands for 2016), a tapered OverDrive steerer tube and cable routing for a dropper seatpost.
The gearing consists of a SRAM X1 30T chainring and 10×42, 11 tooth cassette. Glabal marketing manager Jannette Sherman told me: “If there’s one thing I’d advise mountain biking women to try, it would be a 1x gearing set up – it will change the way you ride.”
Interestingly, Trek also seem to be taking the female shredders more seriously this year, with their new women’s Trek Remedy.
