Where Can You Buy Me: Wee Cog Saddle Bags

It may be 'wee' but it's mighty...

Whether you’re a mountain biker or a road cyclist, there tend to be two types of a rider; those who laden their body, pockets and bags with their ride essentials, and those who prefer to strap everything to their bike leaving the body freer and more mobile.

I’m the latter type of rider. Aside from the odd snack or my mobile phone, I prefer to use Where Can You Buy Me: Wee Cog Saddle Bagsbike bags, cages and even race-straps to keep additional weight off my body and onto my bike. However, finding reasonably sized bike bags that look good, that don’t rattle and protects my stuff, is a tall order, to say the least. Fortunately, I was introduced to a small British brand called Wee Cog.

Wee Cog is run by an avid rider, Rebecca Hall, who set out to produce a range of stylish and quality bike accessories. With a background in handbag design and living the idyllic road and mountain bike mecca of Peebles, it seemed a fitting marriage between the two. Being fed up of riding with backpacks and ramming pockets full of essentials, Rebecca designed the first bicycle bag for Wee Cog.

Wee Cog offer a limited collection of products both for mountain bikers and road cyclists alike. I’ve been reviewing the Slick Wee Cog saddle bag on my road bike over the past couple of months and now I can’t imagine leaving for a ride without it.

Upon the first inspection, the purple cordura constructed bag didn’t look like much. Measuring at 12cm in height x 11cm wide x 5cm deep, I turned the Slick over in my hands wondering how on Earth I was going to get anything in.

The single compartment saddle bag has a strong clip buckle which threads through the rails of your saddle and around the front of the bag. This not only keeps the bag in place but also acts as a secondary security feature on top of the velcro closure for the compartment. There’s another velcro strap on the back of the Slick which wraps around the seat post for stability and the soft finish of this strap ensures it won’t scratch your fancy carbon post.

Much to my surprise, I was really impressed by just how much I could fit into my little Wee Cog Slick: An inner tube, tyre levers, multi-tool, chain lube, sweets and even my house key. It’s like the Mary Poppins of saddle bags.

The cordure fabric is water repellent which helps keep your essentials dry, and if the bag gets caked in mud a road grime, it’s really easy to wash as well.

The Wee Cog Slick road saddle bag is available in several brilliant colours and can be purchased directly from their website here for £27.

Wee Cog also offer wax fabrics, dropper post compatible saddlebags, phone cases and hip bags so there’s really something for every rider. For more information on the Wee Cog range and to grab yourself a stylish addition to your ride, head over to the Wee Cog website here.
