Looking for a bright but classy way to bring your cycling obsession into your home? These new lamps from Industrial Kid launched their Indiegogo campaign yesterday, and you can pick one up from $149 (£105).
The lamps were designed by a father who just wanted his daughter to sit at her desk when she started school. Soon other parents wanted their own versions, and so the brand was born. Having launched on the crowdfunding site yesterday, Industrial Kid has already collected 40 per cent of its $20,000 target.
Every product can be customised by the shopper, with an array of colour options for the key components: brake levers, grips, cable housing and stem. Options include kiwi lime green, strawberry smoothie and chocolate brown.
The lamp uses an LED bulb which is switched on and off by pulling the brake levers, and the designers have hopes for more exciting creations in the future.
Father to a very restless little girl, and designer Peter Belso’s said: “In the short term, we aim to offer our customers different shapes such as road bike bars and brake levers or vintage style and develop the customizer platform where people can combine every style with every colour. Longer term, we want to create a wider range of products such as pendant lamps or wall lamps. It is a fusion of our lamp design concept with people’s own ideas to create something entirely new. This is our definition of product design.”
