We’ve all considered taking our passion for two wheels into the realms of racing, sportives and even challenging feats of strength. Living in the UK, one such well known challenge is the epic Lands End to John O’Groats route – LEJOG.
Taking on such a mammoth challenge is not only rewarding, but it’s a whole lot of fun too. You get the chance to ride places you’ve never been, meet fellow cyclo-holics on the way and even surprise yourself but pushing the boundaries of your riding ability. However, cycling great distances and undertaking lengthy journeys requires careful planning and preparation.
How to prepare and pack for a bike tour
If you want to take the hassle out of your own hands, there are a number of cycling adventure companies that provide comprehensive packages. The Deloitte Ride Across Britain event took place earlier this month which saw hundreds of pedal mad cyclists taking part in the epic LEJOG route. Amongst the rabble of rolling wheels were Emily Chappell and Kajsa Tylen.
The fully assisted tour allows each rider to solely focus on the pedalling aspect of the journey, while Deloitte Ride Across Britain does the rest. Without worrying where your next meal is coming from, or if you’re going the right way, you’ll be able to focus on the ride, making friends and enjoying the trip in its entirety.
