Tziporah Salamon may be unknown to many of you, but she may just happen to be the most chic cyclist in the entire world.
The 65 year old avid cyclist has lived one hell of a glamorous life, having dipped her feet in just about every avenue in the spotlight. She’s a well-known model, writer, actress and fashion consultant.
Celebrated for her extravagant, vintage sense of style, Salamon is photographed by many in the fashion industry, notably by New York Time’s iconic fashion photographer, Bill Cunningham.
She rides her beloved turquoise Bianchi Milano everywhere around New York, it’s her only mode of transport and she loves the freedom it gives her.
Her cycling attire isn’t something you’ve probably seen on the city streets before. The fashion icon pedals around the big apple decked in l800’s Chinese embroidered coats, vintage silk hats and antique fabrics which eventually have to become patched up from all the wears and tears from cycling.
Although her clothing isn’t bike-friendly, she’ll only ever ride in trousers, never dresses or skirts.
Her modelling career picked up after she was chosen by designer fashion brand Lanvin to be the face of their 2012 fall campaign, at the age of 62. Tziporah Salamon is an inspiration to us all, proving that age is not a barrier, both within cycling and the fashion industry.
