Review: Foska Tomato Ketchup Jersey

Bev Blakeman finds herself getting a lot of attention in the Foska Tomato Ketchup Jersey.

Most of us love Heinz sauces, but did Bev love or loathe the Foska Tomato Ketchup Jersey?

A World First: Inspirational Sophie Successfully Pedals the Length of the Alps

This UK company began life in 2002 after one of those good old fashioned pub discussions. Three guys decided they were fed up with garish, boring and tacky mass-marketed bike gear and wanted to do something about it. So Foska was born.

If you see someone emblazoned in an Underground map or disguised as a box of Cornflakes, chances are it’s a Foska design. They’ve now branched out to include running, triathlon and cold weather gear to their repertoire too. Like their Marmite jersey though their designs are very much a love/hate item. If you’re someone who likes sleek and minimalists then this isn’t the jersey for you. If you like to stand out from the crowd, perfect.

I tested the Foska Tomato Ketchup jersey in a size 10 and it proved to be a very good fit, more of a sport fit than an out and out race or relaxed fit. A big positive for Foska is that all of their jerseys are available in ladies sizing.

It is made from Coolplus Fibre and feels very comfortable next to the skin. The material does a good job of wicking even during a hard turbo session keeping the skin feeling cool but not cold and clammy. The 3/4 length zip allows enough unzipping on those hot days to get some good airflow going without it flapping in the breeze.

The bottom of the Foska Tomato Ketchup jersey is elasticated but has no grippers. The cut of the jersey and it’s longer back means there isn’t too much of an issue with the top riding up even whilst in and out of the saddle. There are just two large pockets at the rear which means whilst nice and spacious you have to pack them evenly to avoid feeling unbalanced. There is also a zipped side entry pocket for safe keeping of keys, money, etc.

The jerseys are printed using fade-free techniques which is pretty important seeing as how colourful they are. After a few washes the red of this jersey is still as vibrant as the day it came out of the wrapper.

All told this is a well made, good fitting jersey at a decent price, it just comes down to personal taste.

Pros

Well made with a good fit

Cons

Not for people who like to blend in
