Reviewed: Susy Cyclewear 3/4 Jersey and Cycling Tights

Find out how we got on with the latest cyclewear from Susy

We’re seeing more and more women taking up cycling as a means of fitness, transportation and fun. When compelling studies reveal that cycling could be the cure to work-place stress, why wouldn’t you want to hop on a saddle and give it a go?

Admittedly, not all cycling-specific clothing is stylish or flattering to wear. Not all of us want to wear the high-vis colours and short shorts, so it’s a relief when a new cyclewear brand comes on the scene with performance apparel that’s more subtle whilst still being comfortable to ride in.

Commuting 101: A Catalogue of Advice for Commuter Cyclists

Conceived in 2015, Dutch clothing brand, Susy, set out to design and produce quality riding wear with the aim of getting you from your home, onto the bike, to work and the gym. To ensure each piece is created with impeccable attention to detail, Susy carefully sources technical fabrics which are each tested to the fullest.

Susy’s 3/4 length jersey

Perfect for the seasonal transition, this 3/4 length jersey is navy blue in colour with sky-blue panels across the sleeves with colourful stripe detailing on the cuffs.

Constructed from 2-way stretch fabric, this jersey has moisture wicking capabilities and SPF 50+ protection. It’s comfortably form fitting but doesn’t restrict your movement as you ride, although I found there to be some restriction on the cuffs of the sleeves which are ribbed and have a silicone gripper on the inside.

At the back of the jersey, there are three cargo pockets for storage with a zipped stash pocket for essential items. The centre back length is approximately 62/63 cm making it a little longer, providing ample coverage when you’re really pedalling down hard.

Susy’s 3/4 sleeve jersey is available in sizes xx.small to x.large here for €140 / £123.

Susy’s Long Tights

To complete the look, Susy offers matching tights in keeping with the same navy and sky-blue theme.

These tights are developed with an integrated chamois pad which has been designed with the female anatomy in mind. The lightweight compression fabric offers muscular support with a soft finish that keeps you cool and dry throughout your ride and workout session.

These tights are extremely comfortable to wear and to ride in. The high-waist and thick panel construct ensures there is minimal pressure cutting in through the mid-drift. I found these tights great to ride in on chillier mornings and aesthetically, I found them to be more flattering than other full-length bottoms that I’ve tried.

At the back of the tights, there is a small zipped stash pocket and subtle reflective detailing for low-light conditions.

Verdict

It’s apparent that Susy’s 3/4 jersey and tights have been designed with style and function in mind. Both garments are comfortable to wear, brilliant to ride in and their subtle design and colourway ensure you don’t look like a typical cyclist.

Aside from the striped cuffs, which I personally didn’t get along with, the kit looks and feels high quality but this does come at a price. With a combined total of 270 / £237, this isn’t the most affordable cyclewear on the market, but if you’re looking to splash the cash and treat yourself then Susy offers high-quality cycling kit ideal for urban, commuting and fitness.
