All eyes were on the Rabo Liv team heading in to the Giro Rosa 2014. With Marianne Vos at the helm, they are the hot favourites to top the general classification leader board at the 10 day stage race.

Last night, in the prologue of the Giro Rosa, the Rabo Liv team proved that they mean business taking the top four spots with Annemiek van Vleuten crossing the line first. Today on Stage 1 of the event, the Rabo Liv domination continued.

Consisting of 11 very technical laps of a 8.6km circuit, stage one had almost a criterium feel to it and brought with it electric excitement. But Vos proved once again why she is one of the best female riders the world has ever seen when she accelerated through the final corner of the course, taking the lead by a significant amount and taking the pink jersey.

Will she be able to hold on to it on Stage 2… I guess we’ll have to watch this space!
