Review: Sportful Diva Bibtight

A great value, excellent pair of winter bib tights that won’t break the bank, or leave you wishing you just stuck to shorts. Emily Conrad-Pickles test the Sportful Diva Bibtight...

Perfect for winter and spring riding.

I have no internal thermostat. I’m either boiling hot or freezing cold. This is challenging when you cycle, especially in the winter when conditions can be changeable. Often, I find myself our riding in shorts when my friends are in thermals so when I was asked to try out these Sportful Diva Bib Tights, I was a little apprehensive. How long was it going to take before I overheated?

I was patiently waiting for the thermometer to drop below zero before I could get the ‘divas’ out, which is usually when I could justify wearing thermal lined tights however, impatience got the better of me so at a rather toasty 7 degrees C I decided to take the tights out for a spin. I should not have worried.

The Sportful Diva Bibtights are not only great to look at, they keep you warm when the temperature drops. Plus, I did not overheat when I picked the pace up and did some hill climbing. They are made with a product called Thermodrytex which is a unique fleece backed breathable material, designed to keep you warm and dry. In short, these tights will keep you warm and dry during the colder winter months.

If you are not used to bib tights, these are a bit like a full body suit, with a mesh back and a front zip making them nice an easy to put on and take off.

I’m 172cms and usually wear a 10/12 so a medium is almost always the perfect size for me –these bibs did appear a bit short on the body section. That said, once I was riding I hardly noticed this.

The chamois is like sitting on a padded throne instead of a saddle – perhaps my old shorts really do need replacing – or perhaps I have spent a little too many hours this year cycling in my tri gear, but wow, 10/10 for comfort. Sportful are quick to promote the key features of the chamois with padding up to 10mm, 4-way stretch, special “press to finish” edges to prevent chafing as well as polygene bacteriostatic treatment to help with hygiene (very important)

In summary, if you are looking for a decent quality, good looking pair of bib tights for winter, you could not go far wrong with these and priced at £105, they sit nicely in the middle of the market.
