Review: Rapha Women’s Gilet

Just the thing stuffed in a jersey pocket for autumn and spring riding, the Rapha Women’s Gilet is expensive, but you can see the quality.

Sneak Peek: Rapha Extends its Women’s Range

Leaving aside the discussion of how expensive their kit can be, the Rapha Women’s Gilet is a fine piece of clothing that oozes quality.

Lightweight and very breathable, it’s also extremely windproof. Worn with a pair of arm warmers, or tucked into your jersey pocket (it packs very small and weighs just over 100g), it’s just the thing for when the weather’s changeable.

Packed full of nifty little features and thoughtful design touches, the Rapha Women’s Gilet is one of the best. Featuring Rapha’s trademark off-centre full-length zip with soft fleece chin guard, there’s no chance of chaffing. Other nice touches include the very discreet security and secrets pocket tucked into the side, two elasticated deep rear pockets, and reflective piping and logo.

Running down the spine of the Rapha Women’s Gilet is a mesh panel for added breathability, and it’s cut longer in the back so sits just right. You can also tighten the waist with a friction-lock adjuster, but I found the fit (a small) to be snug enough for a size 10.
