Commuting

In pictures: Photo competition celebrating Cycle to Work Day

As Britain celebrated national Cycle to Work Day yesterday, we thought it only right to showcase our readers who commuted on their trusty two-wheeled steeds.

We asked Total Women’s Cycling readers to send through photos from the day. Anything from just their bike, to them riding it, or a view from the saddle. The only caveat – we had to be able to see their bike somewhere in the photo.

Our readers responded in their masses, we were truly overwhelmed with the volume of entrants, so thank you all. It was uplifting to see so many people saddle up and get involved.

It was too difficult to pick just one winner, so we’ve bent the rules slightly and added a ‘runner up’ too.

WINNER

Congratulations to Hannah Dobson who sent us a photo of her ‘commuting’ her two children to nursery on a 6k round trip. Great to see Hannah getting her kids involved in cycling from a young age – that’s the spirit!

RUNNER UP

Up next is Stephanie Jones, who commutes a 10k round trip to work. Proving you don’t need to be decked head to foot in lycra to cycle to work. Stephanie added;

Nothing better in the morning then over taking a racing bike on a hill while wearing a flowery dress riding a gigantic dutch bike. Weeee! Coming back down the hill is even more fun.

Stephenie Jones oozes style and sophistication on her dutch bike

BEST OF THE REST

Check out our gallery of all the photos emailed through, including all those tweeted across. See if you can spot yourself or your friend!

And from Twitter, we were inundated with Tweets! Here’s just a selection;
