Despite being a team for eight years, Matrix Fitness is entering its second year at pro level, and with it comes their new helmet sponsor, Lazer.
Following huge successes for its riders in the Rio Olympic games, with all four of the team’s UK Olympians winning gold medals, the Matrix riders will compete on many fronts this year. Earlier on this year, the team warmly welcomed Dutch sprint star Laurine van Riessen to join them for 2017.
Last year, Matrix Pro Cycling Team Manager, Stefan Wyman, announced a new direction that the team will take this season. Avoiding the overly crowded domestic race market, the team will be focusing on rider development. With a variety of road and track talent, the team hopes to include UK events such as the Matrix Fitness GP for several of the rounds.
Having Lazer join this ambitious team has certainly made for much excitement as Wyman says: “Many of our riders are familiar with Lazer products from its partnership with British Cycling. The development we have seen happening with Lazer and the new products being released makes everyone confident that we have a fantastic partnership as we start a brand new phase with the team.”
