The penultimate stage of the 2016 Giro Rosa ended in a bunch sprint, which was won by Italian Giorgia Bronzini. Her win took the Wiggle High5 stage victory count to four, a pretty impressive total so far!
A break of 9 did manage to get away during the race, but the pace was high – as we’re temperatures, exceeding 30 degrees by some way. The group splintered, to just 4 and they were caught by the end.
At the line, Bronzini had the best legs, followed by fellow Italian Maria Bastianelli (Alé Cipollini) in second and Maria Giulia Confalonieri (Lensworld-Zannata) third.
Pink jersey wearer Megan Guarnier (Boels Dolmans) finished in the pack, and with one stage left, looks likely to hold on to her lead.
