Data released by Strava today shows an 82% increase in the number of women cycling in the last 12 months.
In fact, UK ladies have logged 44 million kilometers in the last year – clearly we’ve all been out practicing what we preach!
UK women’s rides account for 20% of the global female mileage, but the increase isn’t just on our shores. Across the world women have logged a staggering 231,114,595 kilometers in the last year, a 75% increase.
We like to see the performances of our professional sisters, too – pro women have some huge followings on the social platform for cyclists. At the top of the chain, Marianne Vos has collected 63,292 Kudos, whilst Dani King has 13,632 kudos and Peta Mullens a bank of 11,787.
Strava have released the data a celebrate the Aviva Women’s Tour, which begins in Bury St Edmunds on Wednesday. They are sponsoring the Strava Queen of the Mountains Jersey, which was claimed by Sharon Laws last year.
