One of the world’s most famous beaches will welcome some of the world’s most famous cyclists to its sandy shores come 2016, as the start and end of each Olympic road race (women’s and men’s) will roll onto the Copacabana (aka: the hottest spot north of Havana).
The 130.3km women’s race will take place on August 7th, offering what the UCI president Brian Cookson, calls a “combination of the stunning scenery and the stern challenge,” delivering “a fantastic spectacle for cycling fans,” reports The Guardian.
Will Marianne Vos repeat her London 2012 performance, or will we have an underdog dominate in Rio de Janeiro? What do you think?
