Is enduro racing on your to-do list this year? With the announcement of the dates and locations of the Bluegrass Enduro Tour, there’s now even more opportunities to get your teeth (and tyres) into.
What’s more, Bluegrass have announced that one of the dates will be a women only event.
Bluegrass have 6 events in total lined up, located everywhere from Italy and France to Scotland and Ireland. Ever the innovators, they’re also taking the opportunity to try a few different formats and variations out, with a view to getting more people involved.
This includes an open category short route in France, for anyone who wants a taster of enduro; a ‘mass-start’ stage in Scotland; and a ‘ride with the pros’ day in Sicily.
The event which takes place in Dublin, Ireland on the 16th August will be for women only, and it promises riders with a range of abilities the opportunity to ride some great Irish trails.
There’s even a section from the Irish National Enduro Series route included, with a waterfall thrown in for good measure.
We believe that bringing more women to the sport is the right thing to do, among other things.
“The idea is not to exclude men from our races, segregation is not our thing. But because in Dublin we will ride four locations in one day, that involves shuttles, we will be limited to 50 riders. Now, 50 riders when an average of 350 take part in any Irish Gravity Enduro series means we would make 300 riders unhappy anyway.
A limit of 50 riders for a women-only event probably means any woman willing to enter will be able to. They will be able to race in a woman friendly environment, that could possibly bring to Enduro racing women who would normally hesitate to enter a regular event.”
Jean Pierre Coupe, MET/Bluegrass
The route has proven so popular, in fact, that Bluegrass have had to add a second day of racing for the men on the 17th. They’ve also organised a discount with Irish Ferries, so you can get a discounted rate if you’re driving over.
Event entries open on the 1st of February – and with only 50 places, we think it’ll book up quickly. See the Bluegrass Enduro Tour page for more details, and let’s make this a sell-out!
And of course, you can enter the other rounds too – mountain biking in Sicily sounds lush.
