Last time we published an spf feature the sun shone all weekend. Can we make it happen again? Let’s see as Adele Mitchell cherry picks some spf superstars.
1. Kiehl’s cross-terrain UV Face Protector spf50
Price: £21.50
Designed for men – but hey, we’re cyclists so that isn’t going to stop us! A performance packed high spf, water, sweat and wind resistant, unscented formula that is non-greasy, easily absorbed and doubles as a moisturiser. Doesn’t run in eyes when you sweat and has a waxy consistency in the pot, though not on the skin, so it won’t leak. Read the rave reviews on Kiehl’s US site if you need convincing.
2. Lancaster Sun Sport multi zone cream+stick spf30
Price: £21.32
A combi sun stick and cream for the face, eye area, ears, lips and nose – or any area that needs extra cover, this handy skin protector is designed for outdoor activities. Fast drying, non sticky, instantly absorbed and invisible as well as water and sweat resistant.
3. Neutrogena Ultimate Sport sunblock spray spf100
Price: £13.05
Specially designed to withstand vigourous activity, this lightweight spray resists wear off from water, rubbing, sweat or wiping and wont clog pores. Oil free – and the highest level of spf we could find.
4. Nivea Sun Lip spf30
Price: £3.39
Long lasting uv protection, spf30 with vitamin E to help protect against sun-induced free radical damage. Ideal budget buy if you’re the sort of person who – like me – puts things down and loses them: get a couple and keep them in your bike kit so you’re never without.
5. Charles Worthington Takeaways Sunshine UV Protection Spray
Price: £1.99
Don’t forget your hair. Sunlight can reap havoc on the condition and colour of your hair, especially if its colour treated. This spray combines hold and uv protection to keep your tresses shiny, soft and protected. Small enough to slip into a backpack too.
