Can we call Laura Trott the Queen of 2014? She's certainly had an impressive year, with a brilliant haul at the Track World Cup, Track World Championships, British National Road Race Championships, British National Track Championships and, of course, the Commonwealth Games.
We chose this photo of Laura Trott winning gold in the Commonwealth points race because it shows her and her British Cycling team-mate Katie Archibald, who were competing for different nations in this competition. No hard feelings, obviously!
Love photos of Laura? Remember to check out this beautiful photo essay of her weekend at the Track World Cup.
This photo shows her incredible win at the UCI Road Race World Championships, where she completed the 127.4km course in a mere 3h 29' 21. Awesome.
Do we really need to tell you more about Marianne Vos? Here's our summary: she's amazing. And the only thing that could have made her more amazing to us, was a cute photo of her signing something for a young cyclist. Oh, wait a minute...
What an awesome shot! In this Instagram post we see Lizzie Armitstead racing in the Tour of Flanders, looking totally intense. And it seems that intensity paid off, because she ended up coming second.
Not happy with a mere second place, Lizzie also found the time in 2014 to win the Commonwealth road cycling gold and the Women's Road World Cup.
Kirsten Wild also had an excellent year, coming 2nd in La Course by Le Tour de France, just behind her fellow countrywoman Marianne Vos. This particularly celebratory shot, however, was taken when she became Dutch omnium champion. We're grinning for her!
Joanna Rowsell is another British lady that loves Instagram, and following her is like getting a dose of joy everyday. Here she is celebrating with her European Team Pursuit victory with Laura Trott, Katie Archibald, Ciara Horne and Elinor Barker.
Of course, Joanna had plenty of solo achievements this year too, with golds in the Commonwealth Games and UCI Track Cycling World Championships.
German cyclist Lisa Brennauer won the World Time Trial Championship this year, which is hardly surprising considering the super tech treatment she appears to be getting!
We love this photo of her in a Specialized wind tunnel – Instagram let's us see how normal athletes are when they aren't training, but also how elite they are when on the bike!
A young American road cyclist with a promising future ahead, Coryn Rivera took this photo of Paris prior to this year's historic La Course by Le Tour de France. Little did she know that she'd come away with the award for best young rider. We are fans of both your cycling and photographic skills, Coryn!
Emilia Fahlin is a Swedish road cyclist and Wiggle-Honda team member that is only out-Instagrammed by our favourite Glaswegian, Katie Archibald (don't worry – she's up next).
Emilia's bio is 'I don't do serious photos' and she certainly sticks to that philosophy with her wonderful barrage of funny-face selfies. We think we've fallen for Emilia!
Laura Trott might be the Queen of the track in 2014, but Katie Archibald definitely won the internet this year with her incredible mop of coloured hair and incessant selfie-ing. Even when her mouth was swollen up due to dentistry. Glorious.
This photo in particular though? Well duh, this is her showing off her Scottishness for the Commonwealth Games in the only logical way. With lots of hair dye.
I.e these gigantic fizzy snake things that she eats during training. Does this mean we all have permission to eat badly during rides now? Thank you Chloe!
We think that Spanish road cyclist Anna Sanchis misheard when someone asked if she fancied a ride into town on this day... At least she's well-used to being in the saddle (#sorrynotsorry)!
She also took this bloomin' adorable photo of her riding what looks like the world's best road in Santa Monica. We're not jealous, obviously. Obviously.
What an amazing photograph. Sophie Thornhill is a visually impaired tandem track cyclist, who competes in para-cycling events.
This year she burst onto the scene, coming 1st in the 1km time trail and tandem sprint at the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships. She also took gold at the Commonwealth Games in the same events with her pilot Helen Scott. That's who she's hugging in the snap above. #Teamwork
Nice day out with the girls for @joannarowsell birthday yesterday And finally, we couldn't resist using this beautiful photo posted by Elinor Barker after her team took home gold in the women's team pursuit at the Track World Cup this month. What an amazing moment!
