Reviewed: Columbia Women’s Powder Lite Jacket

For the pre-ride warmth, post-cycling comfort and everything inbetween...

How often do you finish a ride, get back to the car, only to realise that the heaters of your car will take forever to warm up your rapidly cooling body?

If you’re the well-prepared type, you’ll have a coat or hoody waiting for you when you finish a ride or gym session, but sometimes you need a little more insulating goodness, especially in cold winter months.

We’ve been surviving this winter with the help of the Columbia Women’s Powder Lite Jacket.

This is your all-rounder winter jacket because it’s just so versatile for active wear and casual and there’s a few reasons why it’s become my favourite jacket this season.

Firstly, let’s talk about its look. This is a women’s jacket, so there’s no surprise to see a nice tapered cut which is flattering at the waist line. There are seven colourways to choose from, some with one flat colours and others with panelled colours like the one picutured. Essentially, it’s a classic female specific jacket; central full-length zip, two front zipped pockets, a hood, a high collar, tapered fit and additional length on the body.

This light-weight padded jacket has an adjustable drawcord hem to cinch around the waist and keep the draught out. Your hands will surely be grateful for the microfleece-lined pockets on a cold day. Even the high-collar of the jacket is warming, unrestrictive and, again, helps keep the draught at bay.

The impressive qualities of the Columbia Women’s Powder Lite Jacket are really down to the Omni-Heat Reflective Technology which lines the inside in a rather attractive and shiny coating.

It works well to keep your body heat in whilst the outside of the jacket remains breathable and water-resistant. The perfect blend really for when you want to stay warm and active.

Verdict

So, I’ve been wearing this jacket all winter and I’ll continue to do so because it’s just so warm! It’s light-weight, it moves with me, and it’s the one thing I look forward to when I finish a ride or gym session.

There is only one small con that I could find and it’s the excess space I have in the sleeves. Now, this is great for layering, but it’s even too excess for that and I find my bicep area billows a little. Saying that, however, it’s only a small negative to what is overall a brilliant winter jacket.

Available in a variety of stylish colours, and sizes from x.small to x.large, it’s even more surprising that this jacket is available for less than £100, something that I couldn’t believe myself.
