7 Tips to Finding the Perfect Saddle

Finding the right saddle = a much more comfortable ride.

Searching for the right saddle is something females should take time to think about. After all it is the part of the bike we are most intimate with. If it feels the slightest bit uncomfortable or doesn’t fit you bone proportion or riding style, this can cause huge problems for your comfort and health.

We’ve put together 7 handy and important tips to think about when looking to buy a new saddle…

  1. If you have experienced uncomfortable chaffing whilst riding, this could mean that you need a saddle with a narrower nose.
  2. Gender specific saddles can be the solution to discomfort but they don’t work for everyone, try it out and see if it suits.
  3. Females have a wider pelvis, which means a lot of females need a wider saddle with a special relief area (a space in the middle of the saddle to prevent pressure when riding).
  4. Try out different saddles before buying. Your body will let you know whether it prefers a curved or flat saddle to fit your riding style and bone proportion.
  5. Measure the width of your sitbones. This will help you find your right saddle width.
  6. Think about your bike and the type of riding you you do.
  7. Make sure you have the right bike fit. Are the handle bars at the right position and is your saddle at the right height?
