No one wants to arrive at their bike to find it’s missing its saddle, and a wet perch isn’t exactly a welcome sight either.
Saddle experts Selle Royal set out to combat both problems in one – with their new TA+TOO saddle range. Selle Royal are not the first to look to combat saddle theft, Seatylock popped up a couple of years ago offering a solution to this problem and to that of heavy, cumbersome locks.
The TA+TOO saddle is an attractive and compact option. It can be taken apart, meaning its owner can simply walk away with the majority of seat, and the base isn’t much good to even the silliest of opportunists. Taking the top half with you also means you can keep it dry until it’s time to ride home.
The top half is available in a range of fetching colours, too, to add a little fun and customisation to the commute. To add even more options, a group of illustrators are currently working on a collection of special addition saddles that will be available throughout the year – following the themes ‘Travel’, ‘Wilderness’, ‘Love’ and ‘Landscapes’.
The saddle promises to offer a comfy ride, with 3D skingel technology which absorbs shocks, and is designed to suit a moderate or fairly relaxed riding position.
Selle Royal’s research has in the past shown them that for riders in a more upright positions, unisex options are sufficient as less soft tissue is in contact with the saddle. However, this research was released alongside the Scientia saddle which is available in varying widths to suit different sit bone widths whilst the TA+TOO comes as a one size fits all solution.
We’ve yet to try one, but we imagine this saddle is best suited to those after easy practicality for shorter journeys over ultimate comfort.
Monica Savio of Selle Royal said “We pride ourselves on offering our daily riders choice, TA+TOO boasts a highly advanced structure that really stands out from the crowd. TA+TOO is a modular system with a groundbreaking removable top that protects against theft, weather, and vandalism. It was specifically developed for those with limited bike storage, where cycling plays a daily role in their lives and riders wish to showcase their individuality. It goes where the rider goes and is the ultimate expression to match your style on and off the bike”.
For now, the saddles are available from around 80 euros, or £60. Interested? You can see the saddle here.
