Review: Thule EnRoute Escort Bag

The Thule EnRoute Escort is a great commuter backpack with tonnes of space!

Thule are a well known Swedish company who make very good quality products. Their EnRoute Escort bag is no exception and fits the quality you expect from Thule. Commuters will revel in the amount of storage this bag offers, not to mention the comfortable fit.

It has three main compartments and a ‘Safe Zone’ on the very front (for sunglasses, mobiles etc). the largest compartment is the one to the rear. In here is a padded area specifically designed for a 17 inch Macbook, a smaller pocket for an iPad and a general storage area.

There is plenty of space there to carry both devices and any chargers you may need. Rest assured your lovely macbook and iPad will be safe and secure. They fit snuggly into there allocated areas and these are really well padded.

The middle section is somewhat wider for storing a change of clothes, lunch or whatever else you may need! It has a zip compartment, perfect for securing keys, or things that are small and can easily go missing in the vastness of this bag.

The front pouch of the Thule EnRoute Escort has a selection of smaller compartments. Two are zipped, with three smaller internal pockets (plus the smaller main one). Great for keeping loose change, memory cards, pens and snack bars I found.

The shoulder straps are adjustable and breathable and this is a godsend on hot days! They are extremely well padded and even carrying the pack at capacity (i.e. a change of clothes, lunch, two devices, chargers and notepads) I found it didn’t strain my neck or back.

The back of the pack has two rows of padding for your back. These do work well at stopping it feeling like you are getting cosy with your laptop. They keep it away from your back and provide a much needed barrier. It does sit close to your body though and can get a bit sweaty when the sun is beating down.

The pack has adjustable straps allowing you to pull the pack in if you are carrying less, so less overall bulk or expand it to its full capacity. It also has a waist strap to secure it firmly to yourself. If you don’t want to use the waist band strap it has great little pockets to tuck the straps into so they are not flapping about annoyingly.

One last little feature is the bottle opener on the ‘SafeZone’. This amused me. The thought of stopping for a cold one on the way home and opening it yourself. I am not sure of its overall usefulness, but it gives the bag a nice little twist on it’s competitors.

Verdict

This bag has a pocket for just about everything. It’s really comfortable and makes the commute carrying lots an ease. It is a pleasure to wear and to use and it looks great.
